Regional Coordinator
Fleet Admiral David Nottage

David Nottage, the former commander-in-chief of STARFLEET and the founder and longtime commanding officer of the USS Golden Gate in San Francisco, has returned to his previous position of regional coordinator for Region 4. David joined STARFLEET in June 1993 as a crew member aboard the USS Atreides, one of the many Bay Area chapters of the time.
“Although I rose through the ranks, I felt that I could go no further, so I launched the USS Golden Gate in 1994 under the guidance of the USS Simonov and became fully commissioned five months later,” David said. “The USS Golden Gate has locally participated in various charitable works, advocating for the Battered Women and their Children,
Food Bank collections, and the Annual San Francisco Aids Walk.”
STARFLEET has honored David’s service through awards such as Support Chapter of the Year, Flag Officer of the Year, Starfleet Cross and Distinguished Membership.
“But this is not the reason I have served,” David said. “It has been the opportunity of a lifetime to participate, providing input to update rules and regulations for various manuals. Using my real-world experience dealing with budgets, financials, and desktop
publishing. And as a business owner to apply my skills in leadership, planning and execution of goals.”
“My first convention was in the late 1980s in Hawaii with Nichelle Nichols as the only star,” David recalled.
He continued to go to conventions after moving to California in 1991 and worked briefly with “Entertainment Tonight.” He got to interview Majel Barrett and was one of the first people to go to the “Star Trek Experience” in Las Vegas.
“We are One Fleet, Onward, and Upward!” said Admiral David “Kawika” Nottage,
Region 4 Coordinator and Commanding Officer, USS Golden Gate, San Francisco.
